How to turn what you know into money by selling it on the internet

small business accounting software

I can 100% prove that using online video to teach new skills is the best way to promote and sell your knowledge (the small business accounting software video above took me about an hour) on the internet. This is quite straight forward all you have to do is follow my instructions and you should be able to start selling what you know through the internet. You should build your own product as it will build your confidence and skills and give you a much higher return on your efforts as all of the margin is yours and even better still you will be able to understand what makes your customers buy and build it into your next product and sell more.

Online video as popularised by YouTube and Podcasting is central to the method I will share with you for delivering your expertise and knowledge to your target audience. What continually amazes me is the number of times I can see small business owners (a gigantic market) have viewed or downloaded my videos about my replacement for small business accounting software on the above platforms.

The first thing you need to understand is how to prepare your knowledge or content so as you can turn it into video, don’t worry its quite simple. I use two techniques to create the storyboard for my video, slide making software such as Microsoft powerpoint or Apple’s Keynote or a mind mapping program such as Mindmeister or Bubbl (these can both be found by entering the name into Google search. The really good news is that you can produce a storyboard, create your video and fine tune it and get it to market without spending any money what so ever the most this exercise is going to cost you is time and effort and believe me you will learn so much that you will look back and see that this is time well spent.

TechSmith Camtasia Studio is the video producing software that I recommend as it will let you produce your video in YouTube, Podcast, QuickTime and Windows Media format and there are some great tutorials you should watch before you download their trial software (please don’t do this now). Get your storyboard sorted and ready and make sure you fully understand how you are going to use the Camtasia software (watch the tutorials…yes all of them!!) before you download the trial as you only have use of the software for thirty days.

Now you know what tools you need to create your videos and in the next few days I will be publishing to this blog (owners permitting) another and much more detailed lesson on storyboard creation using how I created and distributed my small business accounting software videos as real life examples of what is possible.
